- January 24 – Inaugural Dinner launches Business Information Program.
- March to May - Scholarship Drive raises almost $2,500 for five scholarships for Bret Harte graduating seniors to pursue a business studies.
- April - Spring Spruce-Up and those wonderful daffodils on Main Street!
- April 19 – 2nd annual Spring Fling sidewalk sale draws record shoppers.
- May 3 – Italian Heritage Day, with a Cavalcade of Cowboys along Main Street, draws visitors and volunteers to the Museum grounds.
- June 6 to October 10 – 3rd annual Fresh Fridays Farmers Market sees increased sponsorship and breaks even for first time.
- July – New Web site includes directory of member businesses.
- September 3 – Angels Camp Branding Plan introduced at Utica Park.
- October 12 – 2nd annual Taste of Calaveras celebrates the food, wine, arts and entertainment of Calaveras County at beautiful Dove Hill Ranch for the benefit of Bret Harte - Angels Sports Complex, with 18 wineries and 20 restaurants and over 250 paid guests – thanks to a fabulous group of volunteers, donors and sponsors.
- October 18 – 3rd annual Autumn Harvest sidewalk sale along all of Main Street is a great event for merchants and shoppers.
- October – Landscaping on Historic Main Street, with great help by the FFA students of BHHS and the Calaveras Garden Club.
- November 24 - Christmas Bough-making Party sees over 30 volunteers making and installing 260 boughs along the entire length of Main Street.
- December 1 – New Hometown Holiday Gala & Wreath Auction revamps our biggest fund-raising event of the year.
- December 6 - 18th Annual Holiday Parade – bigger, better, new route.
- December 6- Holiday Open House – all day events and shopping
PLUS:
- Membership steady at 125 members, despite economic downturn.
- 60 corporate sponsors of our events!
- Over 250 volunteers during the year!
- 10 monthly Members’ Mixer and Program sees up to 75 attendees from all over the county; plus 12 Board meetings.
- Ads in the Calaveras Visitors Bureau’s Guide to Calaveras and in local newspapers and on radio.
- Over 100 articles in newspapers, magazines and on-line publications.
- Attendance at over 60% of City Council meetings.
- A $10,000 allocation in the City’s 2008-09 budget to support non-revenue projects (landscaping and sidewalk sales).
- Members on the Brand Leadership Team, Museum Commission, Planning Commission, Frog Jump organizing committee, Calaveras County Business Council, Friends of the Fair and many more.
- Project cooperation with the Boy Scouts, FFA, St Patrick’s Church, Calaveras Arts Council, Wine Grape Alliance, Calaveras Garden club and many others.
- Wonderful support in time, money and in-kind gifts from our members, member companies and many other businesses.
- Completely revised Bylaws accepted.
- Our thanks to everyone who helped make 2008 so successful.
